The SSA Fund
The SSA Fund is a crucial part of the resources that allow the School of Social Service Administration to remain a premier institution for research, education, and service. Annual giving is the backbone of charitable support to our program and vital to our success. You can give to The SSA Fund online, or contact Christina D. Cole at 773-702-1172, or ccole@uchicago.edu for more information.
Contributions to the SSA Fund are unrestricted gifts that allow benefactors to support the institution as a whole. The Fund is added to SSA's General Operating Fund, which is returned to our students in the form of financial aid and to our faculty in supporting their research. The SSA Fund enriches SSA’s curriculum and field placements, and subsidizes facilities, technology and career services.
The SSA Fund supports the School’s ability to be competitive and aggressive in recruiting and retaining top faculty and students, and the extra resources gifts provide make it possible for the School to do more. The following are ways you can make a difference:
Edith Abbott Fellow | $5,000 or more |
Charlotte Towle Society | $2,000 to $4,999 |
Dean's Circle | $1,000 to $1,999 |
Midway Club | $500 to $999 |
SSA Advocate | $250 to $499 |
SSA Sponsor | $100 to $249 |
SSA Contributor | $1 to $99 |
Other Ways of Giving
SSA is especially grateful for gifts that are made as part of a will or trust, or in connection with investment and tax planning. Alumni can find satisfaction in making planned gifts, including charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, and bequests. Planned gifts may be funded with cash, retirement plan assets, real estate, or appreciated securities. Many of these gifts are easy to establish and some provide a guaranteed stream of income back to the donor. In a low-interest-rate environment, several types of planned gifts provide income, gift and estate tax benefits. For more information about the benefits of supporting SSA with a planned gift, please contact Denise Chan Gans in the Office of Gift Planning at (773)702-0882 or (866)241-9802.
If you would like to make a gift of appreciated securities, please visit the Chicago Initiative page for instructions about how to do so.
